Systemic Constellation: Gaining Awareness, Organizing, and Seeking Solutions

Systemic Constellation is a technique that brings awareness to misaligned elements, organizes them, and seeks solutions to issues in family, health, or business realms. This technique deals with harmful intergenerational behavioral patterns, namely situations and behaviors inherited from our parents and grandparents that hinder our ability to achieve personal and professional goals.

Every system has a function and aims to survive. The family system's function is to preserve and support its members, perpetuating itself through genetic transmission. A business's function is to serve society by creating products or services to meet societal needs, and it continues as long as it fulfills this function.

Bert Hellinger, the creator of Systemic Constellations, formulated three principles that govern these systems, ensuring that love and harmony flow within families and success and health are possible in businesses:

  1. Belonging: In families, this is the strongest principle, stating that once you belong to the family system, you always belong. It also mandates that each member should have their rightful place in the system. In businesses, belonging isn't eternal; an employee belongs to the company as long as their work contract lasts, and a business can cease to exist or be sold for its own good once it fulfills its function.

  2. Hierarchy: In families, hierarchy is determined by the arrival order of members; those who come first have a greater say and position than those who come later, with elders holding more authority than the younger ones. In businesses, this principle applies on three levels: founders are seen as the source of strength and should always be acknowledged, even if they are no longer part of the company; older employees take precedence over newer ones, who should learn from them with humility; and in terms of roles, leadership positions are prioritized over others as they are crucial for the company's growth.

  3. Balance between giving and taking: This is most crucial for businesses, stating that there must be a balance in internal (employee-employer) and external (business-client) relationships. An employee should receive fair compensation for their talent and time, contributing to the company's mission. In families, this balance occurs between adults when what they give and take is proportional and, between parents and children, where parents give life and children cannot reciprocate this gift, thus balance is achieved when these children become parents themselves or channel this energy into meaningful projects.

In families, the flowing force is love, which moves through generations and propagates life. In businesses, it is money, which flows where it is welcomed and needed.

Issues that can be addressed in Family Systemic Constellation:

  • Hereditary family diseases;

  • Patterns of betrayal;

  • Failures;

  • Difficulty conceiving;

  • Fear of childbirth;

  • Challenges with motherhood;

  • Abortions;

  • Separations;

  • Addictions;

  • Debts;

  • Professional and financial dissatisfaction;

  • Distant and conflicting family relationships;

  • Conflicting romantic relationships;

  • Childhood traumas;

  • Unresolved events;

  • Mourning;

  • Difficulties in embracing life;

  • Symptoms of emotional origin.

What happens when we understand our family history:

  • We accept each person as they are;

  • We transform resentments into acceptance and love;

  • We honor all lives because we come from them;

  • We respect the destinies of family members;

  • We understand the actions of our ancestors.

Constellation is an excellent tool for self-knowledge, as it helps us realize how connected we are and how much we carry unresolved experiences of our ancestors. By looking into family memories, we release emotional content stuck in the family's unconscious, with which we are "entangled", thus we can heal these pains and remedy the system's disorders, turning all suffering into strength. When we manage to keep only what is ours and correctly position ourselves in relation to those who preceded us, our system, and life itself, we honor what we have received and are blessed to forge our own path.
